What Is InvaWeederX?

InvaWeederX is a free retro-style action defense game by developer craftetto, playable in any modern browser. You protect a brick wall from waves of invading weeds by swiping or clicking to slash them before they reach the wall.

The game features 10 stages with escalating difficulty, culminating in a final boss battle. Each stage lasts 60 seconds — survive the timer, advance to the next level. The pixel-art visuals are paired with modern particle effects and an original soundtrack featuring 10 tracks.

InvaWeederX is available on web browsers and iOS. No download is needed for the browser version — just open the page and play. The game supports 6 languages: English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Portuguese.

How to Play InvaWeederX

The objective: protect the brick wall. Weeds approach from the right side of the screen. Your job is to slash them before they reach the wall on the left. Let too many through and the wall crumbles.

Stages have a 60-second timer. Survive the full minute and you advance. Each stage increases the speed, frequency, and variety of weeds. Stage 10 is the final boss — expect a significant difficulty spike.

Watch for special weed types. Some weeds are faster. Some take multiple hits. Some explode when slashed, damaging nearby weeds. Learning each type's behavior is the key to progressing through later stages.

Your score tracks performance. Combos (consecutive slashes without missing) multiply your points. The game tracks your best score per stage and overall.

Controls

  • Mouse / Touch: Click or tap on approaching weeds to slash them
  • Swipe: Drag across multiple weeds to chain slashes
  • The game is fully touch-friendly — playable on phones and tablets without any adaptation

There are no keyboard controls. The interface is minimal: the wall on the left, the weed spawn area on the right, and your score/timer display at the top.

Tips and Tricks

Don't focus on one spot. Weeds spawn from multiple vertical positions. Keep your cursor or finger moving across the full height of the play area. Staring at one spot guarantees weeds will slip through elsewhere.

Chain slashes for combos. A quick swipe that connects with multiple weeds in one motion gives bonus points. Practice dragging through groups rather than tapping individually — it's faster and more efficient.

Prioritize fast-moving weeds. Not all weeds move at the same speed. The thin, fast ones are the biggest threat. Take them out first, then clean up the slower ones.

Learn the boss pattern. The final boss (stage 10) has a predictable attack cycle. Watch for the tell before each special attack. The boss phase is about pattern recognition, not raw speed.

Don't chase misses. If a weed slips past, don't dwell on it. The wall has some health buffer — one or two misses won't end your run. Stay focused on the next wave.

Take breaks between attempts. The game is intense for a 10-stage run. Your reaction time degrades after repeated attempts. Step away for a minute between runs.
