What Is Bugscraper?

Bugscraper is a solo or co-op roguelike shooter developed by Yolwoocle, OLX, Verbaudet, and Ninesliced. Released on Steam on June 30, 2026 for $8.49.

The premise is simple: you're trapped in a massive skyscraper swarming with bugs. Battle floor after floor of enemies, collect weapons and upgrades, climb toward the top, and confront the tyrannical boss that rules the Bugscraper.

Each run is procedurally generated. No two climbs are the same.

Core Mechanics

Floor Progression. Each floor of the Bugscraper is a combat arena. Clear all enemies to unlock the exit to the next floor. Every 5 floors you face a mini-boss.

Procedural Layout. Floor layouts, enemy placements, and loot spawns are randomized each run. This keeps every climb fresh and unpredictable.

Weapons. Find weapons as floor rewards or in loot chests. Weapon types include:

  • Pistols — Fast fire rate, low damage, infinite ammo.
  • Shotguns — High damage, short range, slow reload.
  • Assault Rifles — Balanced, moderate fire rate and damage.
  • Energy Weapons — Unique effects like piercing or bouncing shots.
  • Explosives — Grenades and rocket launchers for crowd control.

Items and Upgrades. Between floors you can spend currency on:

  • Health Packs — Restore HP.
  • Armor — Reduce incoming damage.
  • Passive Upgrades — Increased fire rate, larger magazine, faster reload.
  • Active Items — One-time-use abilities like shields or airstrikes.

Enemy Types

  • Scuttlers — Small, fast, melee-only. Weak but swarm in numbers.
  • Gunners — Ranged attackers that shoot from a distance. Prioritize cover.
  • Tanks — Large, slow, high HP. Weak point on the back.
  • Fliers — Hover above the battlefield. Use shotguns or rapid-fire weapons.
  • Elites — Mini-boss variants with unique attack patterns.

Co-op Mode

Play with a partner (local or online). Co-op offers:

  • Shared loot (both players can pick up the same items).
  • Revive mechanic — downed teammates can be revived if you reach them in time.
  • Increased enemy count and HP to balance for two players.

Tips and Strategies

Dodge roll is your best friend. The Space dodge roll has invincibility frames. Use it to evade tight situations, especially against Tanks and Elites.

Weapon synergies matter. In co-op, one player should use a long-range weapon while the other handles close quarters. Cover both ranges.

Save your currency for armor. Health packs are plentiful, but armor is limited. Prioritize armor upgrades between floors.

Learn enemy weak points. Most enemies have a glowing weak point that deals double damage. Aim for the bright spots.

  • Scuttlers: Underbelly
  • Gunners: Backpack/core
  • Tanks: Exposed back panel
  • Fliers: Propeller/thruster

Use vertical space. Some floors have elevated platforms. Getting the high ground gives you a tactical advantage against melee enemies.

Clear floors methodically. Don't rush into the center of a room. Clear enemies from the perimeter first, then move inward.

The boss has phases. The final boss at the top of the Bugscraper has multiple phases. Each phase introduces new attack patterns. Save your best weapons and items for the last phase.
